Your Sadness is Vain

Your Sadness is Vain
Dwellers of our nightmare
An endless night
As we are the evil dream they suffer
Dark and sunken
Eye sockets filled with tears
and soon with maggots
Bend like a tree to the winds
The wheel will turn
Until your roots are showing on the surface
Bared, but not uprooted
Nor spreadeagled on the torture table
Where pain is growing unbearable
Bodies are corpses
Already corpses
Let the night bleed away all pain
Until your veins are dry
Just cry and cry…
Entangled in our nightmare
An army of souls
Are living their death over and over again
Their long groaning
Has turned your soul upside down
But blindfolds on
You obey orders
In this war of nerves
If your eyes meet they won’t let you go
No, they won’t look away
Not until the night bleed away all pain
Until your veins are dry
You’ll hear the Earth crying
If grief can be a doorway to love
Then let us all weep for the world
We are so good at breaking apart
And love it back to wholeness again
Love it back to wholeness

Pigeon Rain
The time has come to land somewhere and settle in
Not only flap my wings
From north to south, and from west to east
I flap my arms like wings
I’ll grow some roots into the earth, I will
But there is no land in sight
I’m just passing back and forth on the horizon
Thrown into the sky against our will
To fly unrelentingly
A race against our own death
Impossible to win
Blown away by winds impossible to ride
I follow the sun why am I faltering?
With your guidance will I drown
Blind will I find my own way?
Whales could keep me warm in the cold sea
But I’ll be dead before I reach
Its waves and join the other birds
I will drop dead into my grave
Mother, will your wounded water be healing?
With your guidance will I drown
Blind will I find my own way?
Find me Lord as I am falling
With a million birds in this pigeon rain
Guide me Mother as I am dying
I’d rather your waters be my grave
Hold me Lord as I am falling
Your branches are now too far out of reach
Guide me Mother as I am dying
Through a ray of hope I’ll fly and live

Umbra Horrenda
I once heard of a name known to the dead
Ebbing and flowing among the living
In the lowest octave of pain
Where waves are still
Let me be hidden in sleep
In the quiet waters of night
Let me heal
In the mirroring pool of dreams
Where memory returns
And no matter what happens
He will never be forgotten
Nothing changes but the world is ending
Grief and fear unseen in the shadows
Will we finally make a home out of our cage?
As we are losing the battle
Will they ever feel the sun on their face
And grass under their feet?
Our horrendous shadow
Has been spreading all around
And they are all going away
The world has been turned inside out
Its dark side made to seem light
Will never refract rainbows but wars
Let us all take a dive into the belly of the whale
And leave the monster dead once and forever
Breathe in the pain for the world
Breathe it out through our hearts
Join the moaning of beings in the lowest hells
Creatures of the dark womb
May my heart be your shrine
You’ll never be forgotten
Nothing changes but the world is ending
Grief and fear unseen in the shadows
Will we finally make a home out of our cage?
Flood the Earth with your own tears
May the saddest among the living
Build an ark together and sail away
The lengths that we would go to bring you love
Like a mountain we’ll think it all
Storms will lead us home
We will find our way
The lengths that we would go to bring you love
And through your subtle smile, your subtle smile
We will know that we’ve reached your heart,
We’ll know that we have found our way
Umbra Horrenda
Is everywhere to be found
From pain we shy away
May our hearts break open
So it holds the whole universe
The whole universe

One Last song
Staring out the window on my own
Bowed before the greatest of storms
I am not shocked at all by the force of it
I have seen it growing wild
Threatening to break me
Although it is my own, is it my fault
If the world was turned into a wasteland
If flowers were turned
to stones and then all life became a riddle,
and me again a stranger
But I will wait, I’ll wait…
Until the end flows into the beginning
Time will hold still
Until the voice that I am longing to hear resound
Will you come with me out of this labyrinth of tears?
Alighted on the line between life and oblivion
About to leave this world in silence
Birds are unable to sing
Their lovers have gone missing
Oh dear, why can’t you hear me?
Am I the last one of our species?
Have I forgotten our song?
Am I singing for those who will never hear
My cry for an empty world dying
In the name of growth
We’ll be gone a million times…
Their song will be the last battle we share
Heartfelt
Loud enough to wake the dead
Tell me, while we are still here,
If love was ever a dream
A cry for an empty world dying
in the name of growth
We’ll be gone a million times…
Their song will be the last of our prayers
Heartfelt
Loud enough to wake the dead
Tell me while we are still here
If love was ever a dream
Where we had thought to be alone
Shall we be with all the world
Once known and now almost forgotten
Don’t leave me alone in this world we have ruined
And may we call them all back one by one
Will you come with me into the labyrinth
I will sing you to the end of times
Your darkness shall be my light
I’ll sing you to the end of times

Gift of Joy
Midday, the sky was flawlessly blue
I took the permission to go
I was to look Death in the eye
Reaching the alcove I stopped,
Small at the edge of immensity
Will He gaze at me with his hollow eyes?
He stood tall on the back wall of his shadowed cavern
I dropped on my knees, trembling:
« Please hold my life as a surety for my vow. »
« You can make whatever promises you want,
You must make a commitment to my wife,
She is as much eternal as I am
You must surrender to Joy,
You can make whatever promises you want,
You must surrender to Joy,
You must surrender to Joy,
Do not come back until you have »
I left the alcove of Death
The alcove of Love,
The abode of Death and Joy,
Walk toward what I most fear,
Doorway to my true home
Dark and foreboding
Lead me to what I most fear
The doorway to my true home
Life without Joy is heading nowhere
Death without Joy is bored, barren, hopeless…
Life without Joy is heading nowhere
Death without Joy is lonely, shallow, cold…
There is no way out without Joy,
No way in without Death
And no road to return

Free in Farewell
Ghostly Mother, grief is all I have left
My regrets will follow you to the grave
When all else is dead and gone
I would have seen the sunset from afar
From the very edge of the Earth,
Beyond the place where dawn rises
In that foggy place where the sun never shines
Out of the world, free in farewell
Where the dead approach us in swarms
But are never given any blood
When all else is dead and gone
You will give plenty or destroy all
May I be carried by wind like pollen
Dans le pré de l’Asphodèle
To the very edge of the Earth,
Beyond the place where dawn rises
In that foggy place where the sun never shines
Out of the world, free in farewell
When all else is dead and gone
Out of the world, free in farewell…
When all else is dead and gone
Out of the world, free in farewell…
